A Bangladeshi Heritage & Cultural Association

The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) is a Canadian socio-cultural organization that preserves, promotes and celebrates Bangladesh culture, heritage and history, serving the local community of Bangladeshi-Canadians in the Edmonton area. BHESA is dedicated to creating a cohesive and effective voice of our community with the aim to make a positive difference in the lives of our children, youth and adults. We strive to build cultural enrichment, peace, progress, and prosperity, and the preservation of our cultural heritage.

    Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) have decided on the nominees for the Ekushey Heritage Award 2017 on January 14, 2017 in its Executive Committee meeting chaired by Mashod Bhuiyan.Honored will be three people and one organization of the community, Dr. Ali, Hazara Akter, Ashif and Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF-Bangladesh Sports Club) represented by its president Ahsan Ullah.

  • Alberta's historic recognition of the Bengali New Year & Cheerful celebrations in North America Friday, May 05, 2017

    Alberta, Canada (May 5, 2017): The Alberta New Democrat Caucus of the parliament, in collaboration with the Provincial Assembly, a historic statement was made in recognition of the Bengali New Year by Ms. Dennis Wollard, MLA.     Edmonton, April 17, 2017 (BHESA) - Bangladesh Community in Edmonton celebrates Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year-1424, with great enthusiasm and festivity. Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta in Canada celebrates its Heritage Festival (Bengali New Year) in a colorful manner along with other organizations.

  • MJMF Soccer on Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh Monday, March 20, 2017

    On Tuesday, March 21, 2017 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club) organized a colorful Soccer Tournament on March 21st marking the Genocide Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh at the Edmonton Killarney School premises. At the event 3 local soccer teams, the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club, Bangladesh PressClub of Alberta (BPCA) and Bangladesh Heritage Museum met to determine a winner in the tournament. BPCA and MJMF jointly won the championship by 2-2 goals in the final play.
