Bangladesh Pavilion at CTV's Morning Live
The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has represented the Bangladesh Pavilion for the upcoming Heritage Festival in Edmonton at CTV's Morning Live Show on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. The Heritage Festival is celebrating its 40th edition on the first 3 days of August, featuring over 85 different cultures in approximately 60 pavilions.
CTV Morning Live is showing a segment featuring some of the different ethnic communities taking part at the Heritage Festival, and the Bangladesh Pavilion was invited to share the preparation of Vegetable Pakoras, a popular deep fried snack dish and appetiser from Bangladesh. CTV's guests representing the Bangla community were Delwar Jahid, President of BHESA, Dr. Hafezur Rahman, and Zulfiquer Ahmed. Dr. Hafezur Rahman came up with a short description of popular dishes for the festival, and presented a cooking preparation together with Zulfiquer Ahmed.
In his interview Delwar Jahid spoke about the long and rich history of Bengali culture and the opportunity to present this culture on Edmonton's Heritage Festival to other nations and the visitors of the festival.
The Bangladesh tent will showcase arts and crafts, products, and food culture. Further the Bangladesh community will publish the Bangladesh Heritage Magazine, which will contain lots of information about Bangladesh, the local community, and amoung others greetings from His Excellency The Governor General David Johnston, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta.
