Bangladesh Heritage

President's Message 2026

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Esteemed Members of the Bangladeshi Community,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.

Edmonton has recently welcomed a significant number of new immigration hopefuls from Bangladesh. Many among them are navigating settlement challenges due to limited guidance, social networks, and institutional support. At this important juncture, the role and responsibility of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) become ever more meaningful.

I extend my heartfelt welcome to all members of our growing and diverse community — both long-standing residents and newcomers alike.

BHESA is rooted in the historic Bengali cultural movement, a tradition that champions language, identity, dignity, and human values. Our mission remains steadfast: to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all. Through cultural diplomacy, we aim not only to strengthen our internal bonds but also to positively represent Bengali culture within the broader Canadian multicultural landscape.

Our organization stands firmly on the principles of unity, anti-discrimination, mutual respect, and collective responsibility. Guided by a dedicated advisory committee, BHESA is currently engaged in a process of rebuilding and restructuring to ensure organizational resilience, transparency, and long-term community impact.

We pursue our goals through meaningful cultural programs, commemorative events, educational initiatives, and community engagement activities. These efforts serve as platforms for cultural expression, intergenerational connection, and dialogue — bridging our heritage with our shared future in Canada.

I encourage you to explore BHESA's initiatives and actively participate in our upcoming programs and events. Your involvement, ideas, and leadership are essential to strengthening our community and advancing our collective vision.

Should you have suggestions, feedback, or questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any member of our executive team. Your voice matters, and we are committed to listening and responding with care and purpose.

Thank you for being part of the BHESA family. Together, let us uphold the spirit of the Bengali cultural movement, advance cultural diplomacy, and build enduring connections grounded in heritage, respect, and solidarity.

With warm regards,

Sultan Mosur Rasel

President, Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta
