Edmonton, Alberta, April 16, 2024: The Alberta Parliament in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, was not just a venue but a beacon of cultural exchange this afternoon. It resonated with the solemn celebration of the Bengali New Year, marking a significant moment in the cultural calendar.
The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has ushered in a new era with the election of its executive leadership for the 2024-2026 term. On Saturday evening, April 13, members convened for their annual meeting, marked by a spirit of enthusiasm and unity under the chairmanship of Syfur Hasan. The audience greeted the announcement of the new executives with resounding applause.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2017 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club) organized a colorful Soccer Tournament on March 21st marking the Genocide Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh at the Edmonton Killarney School premises. At the event 3 local soccer teams, the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club, Bangladesh PressClub of Alberta (BPCA) and Bangladesh Heritage Museum met to determine a winner in the tournament. BPCA and MJMF jointly won the championship by 2-2 goals in the final play.
The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has decided on the nominees for the Ekushey Heritage Award 2017 in its executive meeting on January 14, 2017 chaired by Mashod Bhuiyan. Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 Delwar Jahid, President of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has promoted the organization and its publications during a recent interview with Emily Burton, historian of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
BHESA's Eid Reunion On October 24, 2014 the Bangladesh Heritage & Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) held a colorful Eid Reunion program in a joyful environment at the Pleasantview Community League Hall in Edmonton. The program offered a discussion about the importance of the Eid Festival, some dance, music, the distribution of certificates, a fashion show, and different varieties of Bangladesh ethnic foods.

Easier Access to Machine-Readable Passports (MRP) Memorandum submitted to The Bangladesh High Commissioner of Canada for easier and quicker process to get the MRP A Memorandum was submitted to The High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Ottawa, Canada, Mr. Kamrul Ahsan by an eminent journalist and human rights activist Delwar Jahid to ease and quicken the process of getting the MRP (Machine-Readable Passports) in Canada.

CEMA Event On May 14, 2014 the Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) organized a meeting at the St. John's Institute between Edmonton's police chief Rod Knecht and the writers and hosts of the local ethnic media in Edmonton. The meeting was used to provide contact and ideas of how the local communities can help the authorities to prevent crime.
Inauguration Meeting of BPCA On May 1, 2014 a new organization was born, the Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA). The organization is dedicated to creating a cohesive and effective voice of journalists, and make positive differences in the lives of media people and the Edmonton community.
Ayub Bachchu with LRB April 25, 2014 at the Royal Alberta Museum Auditorium in Edmonton: The Bangladesh rock legend Ayub Bachchu with his band LRB performed a full set on "Amar Bangladesh", an event around the Bengali New Year celebration 1421.
Welcome Project Every year a significant number of Bangladeshi individuals and families are arriving in Edmonton (Canada) to settle and to make Edmonton their new home. Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta welcomes these new comers to Edmonton / Canada and provides free volunteer service call "Welcome" to all new comers for their settlements in Edmonton.
Bangla Language Movement During the Ekushey February / international Mother Language Day celebration, the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) took the initiative to promote the Bangla language in all prospects and according to that, BHESA initiates the mission and took two projects: · Add Bangla Books in Edmonton Public Libraries collections. · Include Bangla Language in the Alberta Driving Knowledge test. (This project is still in process and progressing.)
