BHESA Celebrates Bangladesh's Golden Jubilee of Independence
Edmonton, March 26, 2021 (DE) – Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) and expatriates of Canada and around the world are marking 50th anniversary of it's independence. Bangladesh's independence was declared on March 26, 1971, and after nine months lasted brutal war gained it's freedom on December 16, 1971.
BHESA usually celebrate the day with big crowds in Edmonton but this year things are different due to COVID-19 restrictions. To mark the event on Friday (6:30 pm) BHESA hold a virtual discussion and a cultural program that Chaired by the out going president Moh Laskar.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Canada Unit Executive and Diverse Windsor Editor, Delwar Jahid, addressed the function as the Guest of Honor.
While President elect Ahsan Ullah, VP Anamur Rahman, Sadik Huda, Syfur Hasan, Andy and Chamili Laskar spoke on the occasion with due respect to the national hero's and taking a fresh vow to build a happy, prosperous and peaceful Bangladesh.
Delwar Jahid, the guest of honor tonight lauded the sacrifices of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of Nation and also recall sacrifices of all other national leaders and freedom fighters. He added, our struggles, pride and sacrifices will go meaningless if we fail to uphold the spirit of liberation.
The Chair Laskar gave the welcome address, and the speakers discussed on historic leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters in Bangladesh.
