Celebration of Amar Ekushey
The initiative of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) was celebrated in Edmonton on the honorable status of International Mother Language Day and Ekushey February. In order to highlight the spirit of Ekushey, the organization has been performing Amar Ekus for the last few years. This day was celebrated in Edmonton with the message of saving all the mother tongues.
On Tuesday, February 20, a very prominent environment has provided wreaths at the temporary Shaheed Minar. BHESA's special project committee chair Delwar Jahid, BHESA's president Mashod Bhuiyan, the members of the executive committee, Syfur Hasan on behalf of Bangladesh Heritage Museum and Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) placed flowers on Shaheed Minar.
A discussion was held on this occasion. Delwar Jahid said in his speech that in order to bring our community together, we have to build up and establish a strong organization and should promote the spirit of Ekushey to the Bangladeshi community and our people at large. The meeting was chaired by Mashod Bhuiyan.
The general secretary of the association, Mohammad Ali, and ex-officio Faisal Bhuiyan, vice president Sabbir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion. Besides, Muhammad Ali, Mohiuddin, Amir Hossain, Sultana Majumdar, Iqbal Hasan, Muzaffar Hossain, Ruknuddin Japan, Hydarjan Chowdhury, Syfur Hasan and Chadni Laskar participated in the program.
The Ekushey celebration was broadcasted on Facebook Live as a first.
