MJMF Soccer on Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh

Soccer Event

On Tuesday, March 21, 2017 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club) organized a colorful Soccer Tournament on March 21st marking the Genocide Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh at the Edmonton Killarney School premises. At the event 3 local soccer teams, the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club, Bangladesh PressClub of Alberta (BPCA) and Bangladesh Heritage Museum met to determine a winner in the tournament. BPCA and MJMF jointly won the championship by 2-2 goals in the final play

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Canada, executive and Bangladesh Press Club of Alberta president Delwar Jahid was present as Chief Guest while the prize distribution ceremony was chaired by Ahsan Ullah, president of MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club.

In his address, Delwar Jahid called upon the youths to uphold the spirit of liberation and engage in the community, organizing such events for social change. Youth participation is must for a change, once I have taken roles in the liberation as a freedom fighter now advocating for peace and justice.

Among the players were RONY, SHAAN, NIGAR, ROBIN, JEWEL, TANVIR, BASHAR, SIFAT, AHAD, ROCKY, RUBEL, RUSEL JABED, SALA, SABREE and others played the tournament. During to the prize distribution ceremony Ahsan Ullah introduced 2 Ekushey Youth Awards recipients Robin and Sala.

The Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) currently renamed as MJMF Bangladesh Sport Club, is a non-political and non-profit organization based in Edmonton, that strives to support both, Bangladeshi and Canadian youth connecting them with the community through cultural and sports activities. During the last years MJMF has hosted a number of different sports events in Edmonton.
