BHESA Elects New Executive Leadership for 2024-2026
The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has ushered in a new era with the election of its executive leadership for the 2024-2026 term. On Saturday evening, April 13, members convened for their annual meeting, marked by a spirit of enthusiasm and unity under the chairmanship of Syfur Hasan. The audience greeted the announcement of the new executives with resounding applause.
The newly appointed executives are as follows:
- President: Syfur Hasan
- Vice-President (and Treasurer): Aneeka Swati Prabha
- General Secretary: Moshiur Rahman
- Joint General Secretary: Nusrat Jabin Zereen
- Member Liaison and Organizational Affairs: Rayhana Rasmin
- Ex-officio/Honorary Member: Ahsan Ullah
The event was graced by Delwar Jahid, the honorable executive director of the Step to Humanity Association and president of Bangladesh North American Journalist Network, who served as the chief guest. Jahid emphasized celebrating Bangladeshi heritage and culture abroad, recognizing it as a vital link to our identity and a guiding light for future generations.
In his address, Jahid stressed the significance of inclusivity, advocating for welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a common affection for Bangladesh. He underscored the necessity of organizing events and initiatives that foster cultural awareness, education, and appreciation within and beyond our community.
During the meeting, a dynamic advisory committee was formed, with freedom fighter Delwar Jahid assuming the role of chief advisor. This committee, comprising Ahsan Ullah Roni, Mirza Bashir, and Sadiq Huda, along with ex-officio member Saifur Hasan, will play a crucial role in supporting the new executive leadership and guiding the society towards its goals.
Navigating the complexities of life in foreign lands, Jahid urged the community to remain connected to their roots. He called upon all to embrace their Bangladeshi heritage with pride and collaborate in establishing organizations that serve as bastions of our culture, strength, and unity on a global scale.
