Ekushey Heritage Award
Award Recipients 2017
BHESA nominated four dedicated volunteers for the Ekushey Heritage Award 2017 in recognition of their contributions to their fields or significant organizational endeavors.
This years' nominated recipients are:

About the Recipients
Awarded for Community Service. Dr. Syed Amir Ali is a senior physician and the founding member and former president of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE). He is actively involved in building the Bangladesh community since 1979. |

Awarded for Community Service and Voluntary Activities. Ms. Hazara Akter is a child care worker and actively involved with the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) since its establishment. She is well known for her committment as volunteer at the Edmonton Heritage Festival. |

Nominated for Sportive Activities. Mr. Moh. Ashif is a student obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and participated on many sportive acivities in Edmonton both, as a competitor and an organizer.

Awarded for organizing Sports Events. Mr. Ahsan Ullah is representing the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) as the president of the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club. He also has been the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) for two terms and has provided significant contributions to sportive events here in Edmonton. |

The Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) is a non-political and non-profit organization based right here in Edmonton. The organization strives to support both, Bangladeshi and Canadian youth by providing access to a modern technical education, and by connecting them with the community through cultural and sports activities.
